I used to think travel clothing was mostly about comfort.

At first glance, a SCOTTeVEST vest or jacket looks fairly normal.
That’s part of the appeal.
The difference becomes more obvious when you look inside. Instead of the usual two outside pockets, the clothing is designed around a whole system of interior and exterior storage.
What I like about the idea is that you don’t have to put everything in one place.
I don’t particularly enjoy stuffing my phone, wallet and keys into the same pocket. Apart from being uncomfortable, it usually means pulling everything out just to find one thing.

I normally keep those things in a small backpack, but that means constantly taking the backpack off and opening it.
Having the items you use most often in your jacket or vest feels much simpler.
It also keeps the important things close to you, which I prefer when walking through a crowded terminal or train station.
I still wouldn’t stop paying attention to my belongings, of course. But I’d rather have my passport in a zipped interior pocket than sitting in an easy-to-reach backpack compartment.

I wouldn’t only wear it on a plane
The name and design naturally make you think about travel, but I’d probably get just as much use out of this type of vest after arriving.

I’d probably choose based on the trip.
For warmer destinations, a vest seems like the easiest option. You get the storage without adding too much extra coverage.
For cooler weather, a jacket makes more sense because you’re going to wear one anyway.
